What is BioTE?
BioTE balance hormones in both women and men using bio-identical hormone replacement pellet therapy. BioTE® are non-synthetic, plant-based hormones that are identical biologically to human hormones. BioTE® balances your hormone levels and releases all-natural bio-identical estrogen and/or testosterone as needed. While this treatment is safe and effective with no harmful side effects, BioTE® has yet to seek or obtain FDA approval. During your consultation, we will debunk the myths and misconceptions about hormone replacement therapy. We are passionate about teaching how hormone balance can be a catalyst for good health.
Natural Hormones for Men and Women in Huntington Beach, CA
If you have any of the following symptoms you may be a candidate for BioTE® hormone therapy:
- Irritability, mood swings
- Extreme fatigue
- Difficulty sleeping
- Low sex drive
- Memory loss, mental fog, confusion
- Joint aches and pain
- Night sweats, hot flashes
By your mid 20’s, natural hormone production begins to decline with hormone imbalance symptoms frequently present themselves by the mid-30s. Men and women often start replacing hormones between the ages of 35 and 40. However, hormone imbalance may occur at any age, so if you are experiencing symptoms, seek testing and treatment as soon as possible. A doctor can determine if you have hormone imbalance through lab work.
What are pellets?
Developed in 1939, pellets were created for women who underwent radical hysterectomies. In addition to being the longest studied form of hormone replacement therapy, they are also the most natural form of HRT. They are inserted by a physician into the subcutaneous tissue in the buttocks.
How are pellets inserted?
The tiny BioTe hormone therapy pellet, which is just a bit larger than a grain of rice, is inserted under the skin with a tiny incision for quick and easy insertion. A piece of tape is used to close the incision, which will heal in a few short days. No stitches will be needed.
What are pellets made of?
They are made of a steroid-based ring of the soy or yam plant to create estradiol and/or testosterone molecules. There is NO cross-allergy between pellets and soy allergic patients because it is a completely different molecule. Stearic acid is also used as a binding agent. Cases of allergic reactions to stearic acid is extremely rare. Most people have been exposed to stearic acid through aspirin.
Bio-Identical Hormones vs. Synthetic Hormones
Bio-identical hormones are inserted directly into the body and placed on the receptors. The body will recognize them unlike synthetic hormones that must be changed prior to the body being able to absorb them. Which also makes the bio-identical hormones more effective and less likely to cause any complications.
What are the Benefits of Hormone Pellet Therapy?
As we age, hormone imbalance is an inevitable reality for both women and men. Hormone imbalance can cause fatigue, hair loss and mood swings.
Scientifically engineered to act as your own hormones, Bio-identical hormones can offer these patients an effective and natural way to replace diminished hormones. Since they are chemically identical to the hormones already present in your body, they are not as likely to be rejected. Pellet therapy ensures that you will never miss a hormone dose.
With hormone pellet therapy, patients can enjoy the benefits of:
– Increased libido
– Increased metabolism
– Better, more restful sleep
– Reduced vaginal dryness
– Less frequent headaches and migraines
What are the different forms of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?
- More consistent blood levels over time
- Some pain with insertion
- Possibility of extrusion (the pellets coming out of the skin)- Activity restrictions after the procedure
- Less frequent administration (3-6 months)
- Weekly/bi-weekly administration
- Inconsistent levels (hormonal roller coaster)
- Pain with injection
- Allergies to oil suspension
- May increase platelet stickiness
- Higher level of erythrocytosis and aromatization
- GI issues
- Daily administration
- Bad for the liver- Best for blood levels with progesterone
- Increased clot risks
- Gallbladder effects
- Skin irritation
- 45% of people do not absorb
- Daily administration
- Blood levels vary
- Possible transfer to others
Pellets closely act the way the body does prior to a deficiency. The pellet is absorbed as blood flows by it, leading to a consistent release of hormones 24 hours a day. Unlike other forms of hormone therapy, BioTe is the most consistent form of HRT, so you won’t experience a hormonal roller coaster effect.
How often do patients need pellets?
Women need them every 3-6 months and men need them every 4-6 months. Exercise and other activities involving movement increases the pellets absorption.
