Laser Hair Removal (DIOLAZE)

Laser Hair Removal in Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, & Newport Beach

Throughout human history, people have burned, scraped, tweezed, waxed, and shaved unwanted hair in pursuit of smoother skin. While these old-fashioned methods serve their purpose in the short run, they can irritate sensitive skin, and they also allow the hair to grow back. Today, we have laser hair removal – a more technologically advanced approach that promises a long-term solution to unwelcome body hair.

Contact us at Allure Anti-Aging and Aesthetics at (714) 804-5460 to learn more about our revolutionary Diolaze™ laser for hair removal.

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

In recent years, laser hair removal has become one of the trendiest non-invasive cosmetic procedures in the nation. It works by directing targeted pulses of light into hair follicles, which damages them and therefore inhibits their ability to grow new hair.

Since this procedure targets the melanin, or pigment, in hair follicles, it is most effective for people with lighter skin and darker hair, although Diolaze’s advanced technology is now an option for people with darker skin tones. Our medical aestheticians can use lasers to remove hair almost anywhere on the body, but the most common areas where people request treatment include their legs, back, underarms, upper lip, chin, and bikini line.

Proven Benefits of Diolaze Laser Hair Removal

If you’re considering jumping on the laser hair removal bandwagon, here are a few advantages of the Diolaze technology for you to consider.

  • Diolaze has become the gold standard in laser hair removal technology because it combines speed with safety. It is the first high-speed diode hair removal device to offer high peak power, optimal pulsing, and the largest spot size simultaneously.
  • Though each pulse of the laser takes less than one second, it can target many hair follicles at once. If you regularly shave or wax your coarse, dark hair, laser hair removal can save you time in the long run.
  • Diolaze has built-in cooling technology for the pinnacle of patient comfort during treatment.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal is the only permanent solution for unwanted body hair. The laser damages the follicle and prevents it from ever being able to grow hair again. With each treatment, you will notice significantly less hair.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal works best on darker hair. If your hair is blonde or white, the Diolaze laser will not be effective for you because laser hair removal requires pigment to work. We don’t recommend Diolaze laser hair removal for patients with a tan, pregnant people, or anyone with rashes, open sores, or active skin infections.

What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal

In the six weeks leading up to the treatment session, we ask that you steer clear of waxing and plucking because these techniques remove the roots of the hair, which is the part we target with the Diolaze laser. You should also avoid tanning, including self-tanner.

When you come in for your appointment, one of Allure’s highly trained medical aestheticians will clean the treatment area, then apply a gel that protects the skin and helps the laser work more effectively. Next, your treatment provider will place the tip of the Diolaze device on the surface of your skin. The laser light energy penetrates the surface of the skin into the hair follicles.

We can treat smaller areas such as the chin and upper lip in only a few minutes, while larger areas such as the back might take up to an hour. After your treatment, your laser technician will clean off the remaining gel

What to Expect After Laser Hair Removal

The most common side effects of Diolaze laser hair removal include mild swelling and redness in the treatment area, which will resolve on their own anywhere between a few hours and a few days later. You can help minimize these by applying ice packs or cooling compresses.

About two to three weeks after your first session, you will notice less hair, slower-growing hair, and even some hair falling out.

Sun exposure makes the results of laser hair removal treatment less effective, and can lead to risks and complications after treatment, so you will need to stay out of the sun as much as possible before and after each appointment. Be sure to always apply sunscreen if you must go outside.

Maintaining Your Laser Hair Removal Results

Laser hair removal provides longer-lasting results than other procedures for reducing unwanted body hair, but you may find you need occasional touch-up treatments after completing your initial series of appointments.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

Do you have any other questions about the Diolaze laser? Read on for answers to some of our patients’ most asked questions.

The design of the Diolaze laser keeps patient comfort top of mind. A cooling tip at the end of the laser cools the outer layer of the skin. As the laser fires, you will feel a tingling sensation. Many of our patients say this treatment is less painful than alternatives such as waxing, though we recognize everyone has a different tolerance for pain. If you’re worried about experiencing discomfort during the procedure, you can take an over-the-counter painkiller 30 minutes to an hour before arriving at your appointment.

Your hair goes through a growth cycle, which means up to 70 to 80% of your hair follicles are dormant at any given time. Because lasers can only treat the follicles that are actively growing new hair, you will need multiple treatment sessions to achieve your desired results. The number of treatments you’ll need will depend on the texture of your hair, skin color, hair color, and how much hair you are hoping to remove. You’ll need to space your hair removal sessions four to six weeks apart to ensure the next group of follicles is active.

You’ll likely start to see a noticeable reduction in hair two to three weeks after your first treatment. Once you’ve completed your full course of laser hair removal appointments, you should see an 80 to 90% reduction in hair growth. The hair that does grow back will be much finer than it was before your laser treatment, and you can expect to shave or wax much less often than you do now. Some of our patients don’t have to shave anymore at all.

Older methods of laser hair removal posed a risk of scarring or discoloration for people with darker skin tones. However, we’re happy to report that this is not the case with the cutting-edge Diolaze laser.

No. Lasers such as the Diolaze system can damage your eyesight, which is why you must wear protective eyewear during treatment. We do not perform laser hair removal in the eye and eyebrow area.
