If you love the full-pout look that celebrities like Angelina Jolie or Kylie Jenner are known for, you may want to consider injectable lip fillers. These fillers add volume into the lips, enhancing the shape of the lips and boosting their contours. Lip fillers are among the most popular treatments at our Huntington Beach medical spa, largely due to their quick treatment and easy recovery (and, of course, stunning results).
This guide to lip filler recovery will help you prepare for your first non-surgical lip augmentation treatment. Contact us today to schedule yours!
Minimal Downtime
Come in for treatment and get back to life. Our injectable filler treatments require no downtime and have few activity restrictions. If you have 30 minutes to spare, we can help you create your perfect pout.
-
- Keep Exercise to a Minimum for 24-48 Hours – For the first day or two after treatment, you’ll want to avoid strenuous activity. Raising your heart rate increases blood flow to the lips and can increase bruising or swelling. After 48 hours, you’re free to return to the gym to show off your gorgeous new lips.
- Head Back to Work (If You Want To) – Downtime is minimal after lip fillers, and many patients are back to work the very same day as their injections. You will have a bit of swelling; if you’re concerned, take a few days off after your injections or schedule your treatment for a Friday.
- Hands Off – It’s tempting to touch or massage the lip area while you heal, but hold off. Our injections are placed in precise locations, so rubbing the area may shift your filler around.
Our lip fillers will have you back to life quickly, feeling beautiful and confident in your new look.
Little to No Discomfort
Don’t worry about pain or discomfort after your filler treatment. Most patients experience minimal discomfort, if any at all. The fillers we use often contain lidocaine, a numbing agent, that helps reduce soreness while you heal.
Icing the area may also reduce post-injection discomfort and swelling. Lightly touch an ice pack to your lips for 5-10 minutes several times a day for the first 24 hours. Over-the-counter medications can be used too, but avoid NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like aspirin and ibuprofen.
Results that Last
Injectable fillers are temporary, but each treatment lasts for several months. We’ll set up a retreatment schedule so that your look is always on point. Expect 4-6 months of fuller lips for a typical filler injection.
What If I Do Not Like My Results?
Nearly all of our filler patients are delighted by their results. We’re confident that you’ll be too. Know that if you aren’t happy with your results, hyaluronic acid lip fillers are fully reversible. A simple injectable treatment can remove the filler if needed.
